Whimsy of tone and breathless of strum there is something nonetheless wonderfully endearing about Coventry's Stylusboy. Operating in ahttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif similarly upbeat acoustic universe as the likes of Ruarri Joseph and Painkiller era Turin Brakes - Jones paints in familiar colours - all softly strummed acoustic guitars, sweeping cellos and insistantly chirpy glocks - but rather than engender the contempt that familiarity can breed, it instead evokes a sunny nostalgia.
Left to hide is moody downbeat centrepiece of his new ep (which is well worth a listen over at stylusboy.bandcamp.com but its lead track The Whole Picture that really sticks in the mind after the shuffle has moved on.
